  • A Spy In The House Of Love Reveals A Daring Solo Mission Behind The Bamboo Curtain — A True Story Of Danger & Adventure

Canadian author R. John Williams recounts a rare journey into Communist China without escort, sharing a message of liberty, Christian conviction, & child rights

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The story begins with R. John Williams being interrogated at great length in Mandarin by the Chinese Secret Police, who threatened to kill him. From that moment of danger, A Spy in the House of Love: Invading China Alone – Penetrating the Bamboo Curtain with Rhetoric unfolds to reveal how he arrived in Communist China uninvited, how he survived, and how he ultimately made his escape — a dramatic arc reflected in the book’s striking cover image.
Blending memoir with political reflection, Williams chronicles what he describes as becoming the first Westerner to enter Communist China without a police or military escort. Like Marco Polo centuries earlier, he traveled alone — the only white man moving through regions where foreigners were neither expected nor encouraged — carrying not weapons, but words. His mission was not espionage in the traditional sense, but an invasion of ideas centered on liberty, Christian conviction, and human rights.

Set during a period when China remained largely closed to Western influence, the book captures the tension, uncertainty, and symbolic weight of crossing into a nation shielded by what was commonly called the Bamboo Curtain. Armed with rhetoric rather than force, Williams sought to challenge political orthodoxy and advocate for freedoms he believes are universal and inalienable.

Throughout the narrative, Williams reflects on navigating cultural barriers, state scrutiny, and ideological resistance. He describes an atmosphere of caution shaped by surveillance, while also highlighting moments of human connection that transcended politics. At the heart of his account is the conviction that words, when grounded in principle, can reach places where open debate is restricted. A true story of danger, romance and adventure.

A central theme of the book is Williams’ commitment to the rights of children. He argues that liberty must extend to the youngest and most vulnerable members of society, and that systems limiting freedom of thought, expression, or opportunity ultimately harm future generations. His reflections expand beyond a single journey, inviting readers to consider the responsibility individuals carry when defending fundamental freedoms, especially in environments where dissent can be dangerous.

A Spy in the House of Love also explores the broader implications of citizen diplomacy and personal courage. Williams positions his experience at what he calls a nexus of history, suggesting that meaningful change can begin with individual action. The book challenges readers to rethink the boundaries between private conviction and public impact, and it asks what it means to stand for liberty when doing so carries personal risk.

Written for readers interested in political memoirs, global human rights, and firsthand accounts of closed societies, the book offers a distinctive perspective on ideological engagement. It combines lived experience with reflective analysis, presenting a narrative that is both historically charged and deeply personal — and at times unexpectedly humorous.

  • A Downward Path To The Past: A John Abel Mystery Delivers Another Gripping Legal Thriller From John Cain

A Downward Path To The Past: A John Abel Mystery Delivers Another Gripping Legal Thriller From John Cain

The twelfth installment in the acclaimed series confronts murder, buried secrets, and the haunting consequences of revenge.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Veteran author John Cain returns with A Downward Path to the Past: A John Abel Mystery, the latest chapter in his long running and consistently praised legal thriller series. Known for intricate plotting and morally complex characters, Cain once again places attorney John Abel at the center of a case that is as psychologically layered as it is suspenseful.

The story begins with what appears to be a minor discovery, an orange bucket tangled in brush along a riverbank. For most, it would be little more than litter. For Abel, it becomes the doorway to a chilling investigation. Inside the bucket is a severed head, though not the head that matches a body discovered miles away. From that unsettling opening, the novel unfolds into a labyrinth of interconnected crimes and long buried truths.

Readers will recognize returning characters such as Abel’s loyal friend Laconia Jones and his wife Billie, whose steady presence provides grounding amid chaos. Adversaries also reemerge, including the ethically flexible psychologist Ian Franklin, who for the right fee can craft a convenient opinion, and Detective Steve McCoy, a figure whose willingness to enhance a case with planted evidence raises persistent questions about justice.

Now leading the Harbor City Police homicide unit, McCoy assigns Becky Creeley, a protégé of Laconia Jones, to investigate a multiple murder case, seemingly hoping her failure will send her back to patrol duty. As mysteries multiply and motives remain obscured, Abel finds himself drawn into echoes of a case from years earlier, one whose outcome he was powerless to change. The past resurfaces with emotional force, blurring the lines between professional duty and personal reckoning.

Beyond its gripping procedural elements, the novel probes deeper questions about justice and human nature. Cain challenges readers to consider whether the central issue in a crime is simply who committed it, or why someone would choose revenge over forgiveness. That moral tension elevates the narrative beyond courtroom drama into a reflection on consequence and choice.

  • SKIN Clinics Introduces Expanded Access to Botox Treatment Services in Calgary

SKIN Clinics Introduces Expanded Access to Botox Treatment Services in Calgary

    March 05, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –

SKIN Clinics has announced the expanded availability of Botox treatment services for individuals across Calgary and neighbouring communities served by the clinic. The development reflects the clinic’s continued integration of established medical aesthetic treatments within its dermatologist-led practice, offering patients access to injectable therapies delivered under professional clinical oversight.

SKIN Clinics, a Calgary-based medical and aesthetic clinic, confirmed that Botox treatments are now available to a broader segment of its service area, including Upper and Lower Mount Royal, Marda Loop, Bank View, Spruce Cliff, and Rosscarrock. The expansion aligns with ongoing efforts to address growing public interest in minimally invasive aesthetic treatments widely used in both therapeutic and cosmetic medical settings.

Botox, a purified injectable neuromodulator, has been used for decades in medical and cosmetic applications. In aesthetic contexts, the treatment is commonly administered to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic facial lines by relaxing targeted muscle activity. The procedure is typically performed in a clinical setting and does not require surgery or an extended recovery period. SKIN Clinics stated that its Botox services are offered following a professional consultation and assessment to determine suitability and treatment planning.

According to the clinic, the expansion of Botox availability reflects growing demand for injectable treatments delivered within regulated medical settings rather than non-clinical environments. SKIN Clinics operates under a dermatologist-led model, which it notes allows for a structured approach to patient evaluation, dosing considerations, and follow-up care. The clinic indicated that this framework is intended to support patient safety, informed decision-making, and consistency in treatment delivery.

Oghosa Ogiemwonyi, Owner of SKIN Clinics, stated that the expanded service access is part of a broader commitment to providing evidence-based aesthetic treatments within a medical practice. “The availability of Botox treatments across more Calgary neighbourhoods reflects an ongoing focus on clinical oversight and patient education,” Oghosa Ogiemwonyi said. “The treatment is approached as a medical procedure, supported by consultation and professional standards.”

Botox works by temporarily limiting nerve signals to specific muscles, reducing muscle activity that contributes to the formation of expression-related lines. The effects typically develop gradually after treatment and are temporary. SKIN Clinics emphasized that outcomes and duration vary based on individual factors, including anatomy, treatment area, and dosage. These considerations are addressed during consultations, where practitioners provide information regarding expected results and limitations.

The clinic noted that Botox is not positioned as a permanent solution or a substitute for comprehensive dermatological care. Instead, it is presented as one component within a wider range of medical and aesthetic services offered by SKIN Clinics. The clinic reported that treatment plans are developed on an individual basis, taking into account medical history, aesthetic goals, and professional assessment.

SKIN Clinics stated that practitioner training and protocol development were central to the decision to expand Botox services. Staff administering the treatment undergo structured training, and procedures follow established clinical guidelines. The clinic also indicated that documentation, consent processes, and post-treatment monitoring are incorporated into standard practice to ensure transparency and accountability.

The expansion comes amid broader trends in aesthetic medicine, where injectable treatments remain among the most commonly performed non-surgical procedures globally. Industry observations indicate sustained public interest in treatments that provide temporary aesthetic improvements without surgical intervention. SKIN Clinics indicated that its decision to expand access was informed by these trends, as well as patient inquiries about locally available options within medical clinics.

In addition to cosmetic applications, Botox has a history of use in various medical contexts, which has contributed to its recognition as a regulated injectable treatment. SKIN Clinics noted that its services are provided within the scope of medical aesthetics and are not marketed as lifestyle enhancements. The clinic stated that its role is to provide accurate information and professional administration rather than promote specific outcomes.

SKIN Clinics operates from its Calgary location and serves multiple neighbourhoods throughout the city. The clinic offers services spanning dermatology, skincare, laser treatments, and medical aesthetics. According to the clinic, the expansion of Botox treatment availability does not represent a shift in clinical focus but rather an extension of services already integrated into its practice model.

Consultation remains a required component of the Botox treatment process at SKIN Clinics. During consultations, practitioners review facial anatomy, discuss treatment objectives, and outline procedural details. This process is intended to support informed consent and ensure that individuals understand the temporary nature of the treatment and the variability of results.

The clinic also highlighted that follow-up care and patient communication are part of its service framework. While Botox does not typically require extended recovery time, SKIN Clinics stated that patients are provided with post-treatment guidance and advised on when to seek further assessment if needed.

As Botox services become available to a wider service area, SKIN Clinics indicated that it will continue to monitor patient outcomes and feedback as part of its quality assurance processes. The clinic noted that service expansion decisions are reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with clinical standards and patient needs.

SKIN Clinics stated that future developments will continue to focus on treatments supported by established medical use and delivered within a regulated clinical environment. The expanded access to Botox treatment services is positioned as part of the clinic’s ongoing commitment to providing medically guided aesthetic care to the Calgary community.

  • Lehigh County Launches 24/7 Public Health Kiosks to Expand Overdose Prevention Access

Opioid settlement funds support free naloxone, hygiene items and harm-reduction supplies in Allentown and Slatington

All the evidence tells us that making these supplies accessible saves lives. This is about preventing fatal overdoses and connecting people to information and resources without judgment.”
    — Molly Stanton, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol

LEHIGH COUNTY, PA, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol has launched two 24/7 public health kiosks in Allentown and Slatington to reduce barriers to accessing naloxone (Narcan), hygiene items and other life-saving harm-reduction supplies. The machines are fully funded through opioid settlement dollars with no taxpayer dollars used to support the project.

“These machines are about removing barriers,” said Joe Martellucci, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol Administrator. “Any tools we can implement to make overdose prevention supplies easier to access means fewer overdose deaths in Lehigh County.”

While overdose prevention supplies and services may be easier to locate in urban areas, rural communities often have fewer options. The Slatington kiosk helps close that gap by making critical supplies available locally, around the clock.

In both Allentown and Slatington, the devices also provide access to wound-care kits, hygiene items and other basic public health supplies. For low-income residents, traveling to purchase these items may not always be an option. The outdoor machines operate 24 hours a day and allow individuals to obtain supplies anonymously, reducing stigma and increasing the likelihood that life-saving tools are used when needed.

Each kiosk features a touchscreen listing available items, and all supplies are dispensed free of charge. Narcan and certain overdose-prevention supplies are available without limits, while some items, such as seasonal clothing accessories, require a QR code sent via text and are limited to one set per month. Other items have monthly limits to ensure broad community access. Minimal, anonymous data may be collected to help assess community needs and improve inventory over time, but users are not required to answer extensive questions to receive supplies.

Often referred to as medical vending machines, the interactive units have onboard Wi-Fi and are continuously monitored by manufacturer, Test and Go. Inventory levels and maintenance needs are tracked in real time, allowing for restocking whenever items run low.

“All the evidence tells us that making these supplies accessible saves lives,” said Molly Stanton, Assistant Administrator for Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol. “This is not about encouraging behavior. It’s about preventing fatal overdoses and connecting people to information and resources without judgment.”

While the kiosks themselves do not provide treatment services, they include overdose prevention supplies, items to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and information on how to access treatment and support.

County officials note it is too early to report usage data. Inventory selections were informed by interviews with individuals in recovery and professionals working in substance use treatment programs. As usage trends emerge, contents may be adjusted to best meet community needs.

“This is a practical, data-driven step to protect our residents,” said Michelle Ellison, Opioid Settlement Program Manager. “If we can prevent even one overdose death, this effort is worth it.”

  • Chicago Restaurant Turns Valentine’s Day Into a Public Love Letter to the Community

Chicago Restaurant Turns Valentine’s Day Into a Public Love Letter to the Community

Smack Dab transforms Valentine’s Day into a celebration of community while continuing its give-back model that has surpassed $80,000 in lifetime donations.

We wanted to create space for people to celebrate love in all its forms, not just romantic partnerships. The response showed us how much our community needed that.”
    — Teeny – Owner

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — In a season often centered on commercial romantic love, Smack Dab took a different approach this Valentine’s Day. Instead of focusing solely on couples, the Rogers Park restaurant invited its community to answer one question: Who do you love?

The result was a wave of deeply personal submissions from customers, neighbors, and longtime supporters. The entries honored sisters, children, chosen family, friends, and personal growth. What began as a simple Valentine’s prompt quickly evolved into a public celebration of everyday love.

Three entries were selected to receive $50 Smack Dab gift cards, for a total of $150 in giveaways. While the gift cards were a small token of love from Smack Dab, co-owner Teeny says the emotional impact of the responses far exceeded expectations.

“Reading through the submissions reminded me how powerful it is when people pause to name the love in their lives,” Teeny said. “It was funny, moving, and deeply human. We wanted to create space for people to celebrate love in all its forms, not just romantic partnerships. The response showed us how much our community needed that.”

Rather than limit the campaign to a single day, Smack Dab will continue to share selected submissions over the following weeks, extending Valentine’s Day into a broader community storytelling project.

REDEFINING WHAT VALENTINE’S DAY CAN BE

The winning letters reflect the range and depth of love in the Smack Dab community.

One anonymous mother described her seven-year-old daughter’s fierce courage and refusal to shrink in moments of injustice. Another writer honored her sister, tracing the evolution from childhood rivalry to best friendship. A third submission celebrated a friend’s resilience and commitment to self-growth as they stepped into a career as a healthcare provider.

None of the winning entries centered on traditional romantic narratives. Instead, they highlighted activism, family bonds, friendship, and self-love.

By amplifying these stories publicly, Smack Dab reframed Valentine’s Day as a platform for collective affirmation rather than consumer expectation.

GIVING BACK AS AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE

The storytelling initiative was paired with structured community giving.

Five percent of all Valentine’s Day sales were donated to Resilience Chicago, an organization providing crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault since 1974. During Mardi Gras service days, five percent of sales were pledged to Feed the Second Line, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving culture and strengthening economic stability for community members in New Orleans.

These February give-back efforts reflect a larger operational philosophy. Since opening, Smack Dab has donated more than $80,000 to local and national organizations through recurring giveback days, free-meal initiatives, and mission-aligned partnerships.

Known for its Chicago brunch, catering, and private events, Smack Dab integrates community reinvestment directly into its business model rather than treating philanthropy as a seasonal campaign.

“For us, love is not abstract,” Teeny said. “It is something you practice. It is showing up for your neighbors, sharing your platform, and redirecting resources when you can. That is what community care looks like in real life.”

A RESTAURANT THAT FUNCTIONS AS CIVIC SPACE

Smack Dab has become a staple in Rogers Park not only for its Chicago brunch offerings, but also as a gathering place for connection and conversation.

In addition to daily service, the restaurant provides catering across Chicago for offices, schools, creative teams, and small businesses. It also hosts private events that bring together community groups, organizations, and local leaders. These services allow Smack Dab to expand its impact beyond the dining room while maintaining its values-driven approach.

Throughout the year, the business integrates charitable partnerships into high-traffic days, making everyday transactions an opportunity for collective impact.

The February love letter campaign illustrates that model clearly. A simple survey became a storytelling archive. A holiday became a fundraiser. A gift card giveaway became a spotlight on courage, friendship, and resilience.

    CONTINUING THE CELEBRATION

While the three gift card winners have been announced, the campaign will continue throughout the month, with additional submissions shared publicly to sustain the momentum.

At a time when small businesses face economic pressures and communities face ongoing challenges, Smack Dab’s February initiative demonstrates how a local establishment can lead with heart while operating sustainably.

For this Chicago brunch destination known for catering and private events, love is expressed both emotionally and practically. It shows up in stories shared across a 6,000-plus subscriber list. It shows up in five percent of daily sales redirected toward advocacy organizations. It shows up in a willingness to use business as a vehicle for belonging.

“Science advances fastest when infrastructure and community support are not obstacles,” said David Kiewlich, Founder of Tomorrow BioTech / BADASS Labs. “By partnering with Green2Gold and Professor Alan Tratner, we’re expanding our ability to support innovators not just with lab space and equipment, but also with the mentorship, commercialization strategy, and funding pathways that turn groundbreaking science into real-world solutions.”

“For more than five decades, Green2Gold has helped inventors and entrepreneurs bring breakthrough ideas from concept to market,” said Green2Gold International Founder Professor Alan Tratner. “This alliance with Tomorrow BioTech / BADASS Labs gives our innovators direct access to the laboratory infrastructure needed to validate, prototype, and scale biotech and green technology innovations. Together we are building one of the most comprehensive launch platforms for responsible innovation and meaningful impact.”

By combining BADASS Labs’ operational infrastructure with Green2Gold’s innovation ecosystem, the partnership offers founders and scientists a wide range of resources. Entrepreneurs will gain full laboratory access, including shared and private lab space, advanced equipment, cold storage, and tissue culture suites across BADASS Labs’ Alameda locations. Innovators will also benefit from commercialization and mentorship support through Green2Gold’s incubation and co-venture model, including strategic business advising, intellectual property guidance, and connections to licensing partners and investors.

Operational support services — such as purchasing assistance, regulatory guidance, waste management coordination, and vendor partnerships — will help reduce early-stage barriers and streamline development. Funding pathways will also be available through Green2Gold’s partnerships with impact accelerators and financial organizations supporting multiple types of investment opportunities.

Both organizations bring strong track records to the collaboration. Tomorrow BioTech / BADASS Labs reports a 90% success rate among supported companies, helping startups move faster, stay compliant, and scale with confidence. Green2Gold contributes more than five decades of global experience incubating impact-driven companies and projects across the green economy.

In today’s competitive biotech and cleantech landscape, early access to laboratory infrastructure, mentorship, and funding pathways can determine whether breakthrough innovations reach the market. This partnership removes major barriers to entry while connecting lab-ready startups with decades of entrepreneurial expertise and global networks.

The collaboration was further strengthened through connections made at the global three-day SuperGreen Live event co-hosted by The Super Crowd, Inc., a public benefit corporation led by founder and CEO Devin Thorpe.

Together, Tomorrow BioTech / BADASS Labs and Green2Gold are building a collaborative platform designed to empower the next generation of scientists, entrepreneurs, and innovators with the tools, mentorship, infrastructure, and community needed to transform bold ideas into solutions that benefit both humanity and the planet.

SCCG Partners with The Vegas Walk Method® to Advance Player Empowerment Across Tribal and Commercial Markets

SCCG will support the strategic positioning, introductions, and market expansion of The Vegas Walk Method® across tribal and commercial gaming operators.

Operators, particularly in tribal markets, are increasingly focused on long-term sustainability, player empowerment, and proactive regulatory leadership.”
    — Stephen Crystal – Founder & CEO, SCCG

LAS VEGAS, NV, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SCCG Management, a global advisory firm specializing in gaming, sports betting, iGaming, and emerging regulatory innovation, today announced a strategic partnership with The Vegas Walk Method®, a behavioral framework designed to promote player empowerment and sustainable engagement within high-volatility gaming environments.

Through this partnership, SCCG will support the strategic positioning, enterprise introductions, and market expansion of The Vegas Walk Method® across tribal and commercial gaming operators. The collaboration focuses on integrating the method as a player sovereignty-aligned infrastructure layer that empowers players to maintain intentional engagement while supporting operators in meeting evolving responsible gaming and regulatory objectives.

The Vegas Walk Method® is a patent-pending, trauma-aware framework built around a structured, player-defined containment approach that operates alongside an operator’s existing customer journey model. Unlike abstinence-based models, the method does not monitor or observe player behavior in-session. Instead, it provides tools that help players maintain psychological stability, develop volatility awareness, and define personal session boundaries, , and while continuing to participate in recreational gaming.

“The industry conversation around responsible gaming is evolving,” said Stephen Crystal, Founder and CEO of SCCG Management. “Operators, particularly in tribal markets, are increasingly focused on long-term sustainability, player empowerment, and proactive regulatory leadership. The Vegas Walk Method® provides a framework that aligns with those priorities by placing agency in the hands of the player while supporting operators with measurable, auditable outcomes. We believe this represents an important evolution in how the industry approaches sustainable engagement.”

Originally developed with operator constraints in mind, The Vegas Walk Method® is deployable through software at scale and designed to integrate seamlessly within existing operational environments. The framework surfaces structured insights for reporting and evaluation while maintaining a “zero-observation” model that respects player autonomy. It is jurisdiction-agnostic and adaptable across physical casinos, online gaming environments, and emerging digital verticals.

Central to the The Vegas Walk Method® is the concept of structured session containment, volatility awareness, and repeatable practices that build consistency across sessions. By encouraging intentional engagement and mitigating “flow state” burnout, the framework aims to support sustainable revenue models that reduce churn while protecting long-term guest relationships. For tribal operators in particular, the method aligns with player sovereignty principles and community-first mandates by reinforcing personal self-governance and sustainable play.

The partnership also positions The Vegas Walk Method® as a proactive infrastructure solution within broader regulatory and innovation discussions. As the gaming industry continues to expand into new digital formats, including prediction markets and other high-frequency engagement environments, the underlying concept offers potential application beyond traditional casino floors.

“Stephen and the team at SCCG have spent decades at the forefront of gaming innovation, and they understand instinctively that player empowerment and operator performance aren’t in tension — they’re the same goal. This partnership lets us bring The Vegas Walk Method® to the operators who are ready to lead on sustainable engagement, not just respond to regulatory pressure,” said Matthew Reynolds, Inventor & CEO of The Vegas Walk Method® As regulatory scrutiny and public expectations continue to evolve, SCCG and The Vegas Walk Method® will work together to introduce a player sovereignty-first, empowerment-driven approach to responsible gaming that balances operator performance with long-term player wellbeing.

McCormick Theological Seminary Announces $1 Million Gift Establishing the Mitzi Gebhard Henderson Endowed Chair

Landmark endowed chair honors lifelong Presbyterian advocate, equipping future faith leaders to advance justice, inclusion, and transformative ministry.

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — McCormick Theological Seminary is honored to announce a transformational $1 million gift establishing the Mitzi Gebhard Henderson Endowed Chair, a living tribute to a Presbyterian lay leader whose courage helped bend church and country toward fuller inclusion.

Unlike traditional endowed chairs tied to a single academic field, the Henderson Chair is intentionally flexible, allowing the seminary to appoint a scholar in the area where theological education and formation most urgently require depth.

Given Mitzi Henderson’s legacy as a national leader for LGBTQIA inclusion—including her service as national president of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)—McCormick anticipates a justice-and-equity focus across disciplines. The search is expected to begin in Fall 2026, with an appointment targeted for Fall 2027.

“Our calling is to pair world-class scholarship with liberating practice, so that every voice is heard and every student is equipped,” said President Dr. Maisha Handy. “The Henderson Chair strengthens our faculty, fuels innovative research and teaching, and keeps McCormick at the forefront of justice-rooted, inclusive theological education.”

Born in 1933 in Oak Park, Illinois, Mitzi Gebhard grew up a careful saver, a curious student, and a steadfast Presbyterian. After excelling at Oak Park and River Forest High School, she studied at Wellesley College, including a junior year in post-war France. She married Tom Henderson, a civil engineering student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and together they raised four children while Mitzi poured her gifts into church leadership, civic learning (PTA, League of Women Voters, Great Books), and the long work of justice.

A turning point came in 1978 when one of her sons came out as gay. Mitzi met that moment with Scripture, study, and love—and then with action. Within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), she championed ordination and marriage equality, helping to found and serving as the first co-moderator of More Light Presbyterians. Nationally, she led PFLAG (1992–1996), testified against the so-called Defense of Marriage Act before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and helped restructure PFLAG into a truly national federation.

Mitzi’s Presbyterian commitments ran deep: lay leadership in multiple congregations, service in presbytery, statewide campus ministry leadership, and two terms as a trustee of McCormick, where she chaired key committees and helped guide presidential transitions. Her life braided faith, learning, and public witness—the very strands this chair will strengthen for generations.

    The Henderson Chair will:
    * Attract and retain a scholar-practitioner who teaches across boundaries—classroom to congregation, sanctuary to city hall.
    * Seed new courses and research in justice, equity, and pastoral practice—shaping ministers, chaplains, and organizers for complex contexts.
    * Deepen partnerships with movements and ministries advancing inclusion, racial justice, and community repair.

“This is more than an academic appointment,” the seminary noted. “It is a formation engine that will keep McCormick nimble to the Spirit and responsive to the world God loves.”

McCormick gives thanks for Mitzi’s family, whose generosity honors her lifelong devotion to faith, education, and the love and acceptance of others. The seminary also honors Tom’s memory and the Hendersons’ 50-year partnership that underwrote so much of this witness.

Because of the Henderson Chair, students at McCormick will keep learning how to preach with clarity, organize with wisdom, and lead communities with courageous love—today and long after any of us are gone.

For updates on the Henderson Chair search and related events, visit McCormick’s news page and join the seminary in giving thanks for a gift that will continue to open doors, widen tables, and form leaders for liberating ministry.
